More About VickyBorn
a share-croppers daughter in middle Tennessee the seventh of eight children
had fourteen uncles and aunts and was a cousin to almost everybody in two counties.
She learned how to work hard chopping cotton, milking cows, cleaning house,
playing basketball and making some of the best grades her class in Bell Buckle
High School. Good looking, too. She was the Bedford County Dairy Princess her
Senior year. Went
to Middle Tennessee State University on several scholarships and a part time
job, but still had time to win the love of her life. She and Wiley were married
after her first year and they started a family with the first of two children.
They
moved to Haleyville and managed the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant from
its inception in 1973. When both of her children were in school she went
to UNA and finished a BS degree and went on to earn an MBA degree. As her children
grew up she has been everything from a Den Mother to a Band Booster. Her son,
Steven earned the rank of Eagle Scout and her daughter, Angel, was Drum Major
of the HHS band for three years. She
has been the teacher of the Lydia Ladies class at the 9th Ave. church of Christ
since it began about 20 years ago. When she was President of the Haleyville
Civitan Club she led the club to earn the distinction of Honor Club.
She has also served on the Board of Directors of the Haleyville Area Chamber
of Commerce and the Southeastern KFC Franchisees Association. A
highly self-motivated person, she is committed to good conditioning and has
been seen running for years and has logged thousands of miles including four
marathons. She
is loved and respected by all who know her and is the best Grandma three lucky
children could possibly have. |
